Ready... Set... Craft! | Crafty Collaborations July Dice Roll Challenge

Sometimes the best card ideas come from letting the dice decide! 🎲 This month for the Crafty Collaborations Challenge Hop, we each rolled for different design elements, and my combination turned into a colourful race to the finish line.

Our dice roll included:

🎲 Landscape Orientation

🎲 Subtles Colours

🎲 Masking Technique

🎲 Ribbon

I knew the Ready Set Go stamp set would be perfect for this challenge. By using masking paper, I was able to stamp each race car so they overlap naturally, creating the illusion that they're all racing side by side toward the finish line. It's a simple technique that adds so much movement and depth to a card.

The soft Subtles colour palette keeps the card bright and playful while letting each car stand out. A strip of bold black-and-white patterned paper and a black ribbon help frame the scene and give it a little extra "speed."

One funny twist... the dice wanted a "For You" sentiment, but I didn't have one that fit the design. Since birthdays are definitely for you, I swapped it for a Happy Birthday greeting instead. I think the dice will forgive me this time! 😄

Basic Steps

Create a landscape Basic Basic Black.
Add the black-and-white striped designer paper.
Stamp the first race car onto Basic White cardstock.
Cover the stamped image with masking paper.
Continue stamping and masking each additional car until the racing scene is complete.
Colour the cars using colours from the Subtles collection.
Adhere the finished panel to the centre of the card.
I changed up the numbers on the cars using a metallic gold pen then outlining them in black marker.
Tie and attach a small black ribbon bow.
Add the Happy Birthday sentiment to finish the design.

I always enjoy these dice roll challenges because they encourage me to use combinations I might never have chosen on my own. Sometimes all it takes is a random roll of the dice to send creativity racing in a brand-new direction!
