Sweet Bugs Monochromatic Hop Featuring Old Olive πŸ’šπŸ›

It’s time for another round of monochromatic fun and this week we are featuring Old Olive. I decided to pull out the adorable Sweet Bugs set and had to do my new favourite eclipse cards so much texture and layers.

I also used some colouring from another amazing class with mitosu crafts and had so much fun.

The layered leafy background paired perfectly with all the Old Olive tones and made this monochromatic card feel extra lively.

Basic Steps:

  1. Card Base: Cut Old Olive cardstock to 5 ½ x 8 ½. Score at 4 ¼ and fold in half. & a mat layer slightly smaller
  2. Background Layer: Cut patterned DSP to 3 1/2  x 5 ¼
  3. Layered Panels: Cut the DSP at 1/2 inch strips and adhere vertically across the mat layer alternating between glued dimensionals glued dimensionals
  4. Decor: Add ribbon, and Adhere the mate layer to card base. (make sure its straight and not wonky like mine lol)
  5. Die Cut Circle: Die cut a large white circle adhere to the centre of the card with dimensionals in-between the layer strips that are not popped up so its all the same layer.
  6. Stamp & Colour: Stamp the caterpillar Fussy cut or die cut the images adhere to card with dimensionals
  7. Sentiment: Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment in Old Olive ink and trim into a rectangle strip before adhering across the circle.
  8. Final Touches: Add embellishments and gems for sparkle and texture.

This card was such a fun way to explore monochromatic crafting while still adding lots of interest with texture, layers and colouring. Plus… who can resist a cheerful little caterpillar? πŸ›
