Global Design Project #510
Today’s Global Design Project #51 is a sketch challenge, and I couldn’t resist pulling out the brand-new Lustrous Aurora DSP. This paper is stunning on its own—it looks just like the northern lights! To keep the focus on that gorgeous background, I paired it with black silhouette die cuts inside circle frames for a bold, night-sky scene.
Steps
-
Card BaseCut a piece of Basic Black cardstock to 5 ½” x 8 ½”. Score at 4 ¼” to create your card base.
-
Background LayerTrim the Lustrous Aurora DSP to 4” x 5 ¼” and adhere to the card front.
-
CirclesDie cut three stitched circles in Basic White cardstock.
-
SilhouettesDie cut tree and mountain shapes from Basic Black cardstock. Adhere them inside the circles to create night-time scenes.
-
SentimentStamp your sentiment on a strip of white cardstock.
-
AssembleLayer the circles on the DSP background using Dimensionals for depth. Add the sentiment strip across the front.
-
Finishing TouchesEmbellish with sequins or gems to add a little sparkle to the night sky.
Final Thought
This card comes together quickly but gives a bold and scenic effect. The contrast of the Aurora DSP with black silhouettes really makes the design pop!
