team meeting fet fern& Flora

For a team meeting, I wanted to create something that showcased just how much impact layering can have on a card. The Fern & Flora collection was the perfect choice, with its gorgeous botanical imagery, rich colours, and beautifully detailed die cuts.

Rather than focusing on a special technique, this card celebrates the art of layering. By combining patterned paper, foliage, florals, twine, and sentiment pieces, each element helps create movement and depth across the card front. The result feels lush and full without being overwhelming, almost like peeking into a little garden scene.

One of my favourite parts of this card is the contrast between the clean white space and the richly patterned botanical panels. The dark background allows the greenery and flowers to really shine while keeping the overall design balanced.

The layered fern acts as the star of the show, creating height and drawing your eye upward. Smaller floral clusters and foliage pieces are tucked around the sentiment, helping everything feel connected. Adding twine behind the greeting softens the strong geometric lines and introduces a natural, organic texture.

The colour palette is another feature I love. The deep greens create a peaceful woodland feel while the warm golden flowers add little bursts of sunshine throughout the design. Even the butterfly helps carry your eye around the card, creating a sense of movement among all the layers.

This card was a wonderful reminder that layering doesn't have to be complicated to be effective. By combining different shapes, textures, and heights, you can create a card that feels rich and detailed while still letting each element have room to shine.

Sometimes the best designs are built one layer at a time, just like a garden grows one leaf at a time. And if a couple of orange cats happen to supervise the process from the craft room doorway, well, that's just an added design feature! 🐱🌿💛
