Calypso Coral Monochromatic Hop | Three Flamingos & Lots of Texture

Welcome to another Monochromatic Hop! This week we're celebrating Calypso Coral, a colour that's full of warmth, energy, and just the right amount of tropical flair.

For my card, I wanted to let the colour do all the talking. By using Calypso Coral in different ways, from ink blending and patterned paper to embossed cardstock, the card has lots of interest while staying true to a single-colour theme.

The trio of flamingos became the perfect focal point. Layering them over soft white foliage helps them stand out, while the embossed background and torn Designer Series Paper add texture without competing for attention. A few iridescent gems finish everything off with a little sparkle.

Basic Steps

Create a Basic White card base.
Emboss a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock with a 3D embossing folder and trim the corners before adhering it to the card front.
Tear a strip of Calypso Coral Designer Series Paper and adhere it across the lower third of the card.
Die cut the decorative foliage and wood-textured piece from Basic White cardstock and layer them over the background.
Stamp, colour, and die cut the three flamingos, then adhere them over the foliage using Stampin' Dimensionals for extra depth.
Stamp the birthday sentiment, trim it to size, and adhere it across the bottom of the flamingos.
Finish with a few iridescent gems for a touch of sparkle.

One of my favourite things about monochromatic cards is discovering just how much variety you can create with a single colour. Texture, layers, embossing, and a few pops of white keep the design interesting while letting Calypso Coral remain the star of the show.
