Fern & Flora Colour Challenge Blooms

This card was a fun one because it ended up serving two purposes at once! I created it for our Coast to Coast team meeting and it also fit perfectly into last month's colour challenge featuring Berry Burst, Hydrangea Hue, Barley Blush, and Misty Moonlight. Although if you saw my original label, you may have noticed I accidentally called Misty Moonlight "Lost Lagoon." Apparently my card was keeping secrets from me! 😂

I pulled out the beautiful Fern & Flora stamp set and filled the card front with florals, foliage, and butterflies. The combination of bold Berry Burst and Misty Moonlight paired with the softer Hydrangea Hue and Barley Blush creates a beautiful balance of colour.

Basic Steps

1. Card Base

Create a Basic Black card base and cut a Basic White layer for the front.

2. Stamp the Background

Using Fern & Flora, stamp 3 months and floral and foliage images across the entire Basic White panel. Mix the images and directions to create a full botanical background. Leave a little white space between images so each colour has room to shine. Also stamp 3 moths on separate card stock.

3. Add Colour

Colour using Berry Burst, Hydrangea Hue, Barley Blush, and Misty Moonlight blends. Then using a white gel pen add lines and dots for some highlights.

4. Create the Sentiment

Stamp and die cut the sentiment and moths. Layer the sentiment onto a black mat and adhere it near the centre of the card using dimensionals.

5. Final Touches Butterflies

Adhere the moth on top of the moths to create a 3d flying look.

Final Thoughts

I always enjoy a card that checks more than one box, and this one was no exception. The challenge colours worked beautifully together, and Fern & Flora made it easy to create a card packed with detail without feeling overwhelming. Even if I managed to confuse Misty Moonlight with Lost Lagoon along the way, I still love how this colourful garden came together. Sometimes the happy accidents are part of the fun! 🌸🦋🐱
