Azure Afternoon Fun in the Sun

It’s time for another Monochromatic Insta Hop, and today we are splashing into the bright and cheerful Azure Afternoon! 💙☀️

This colour was made for summer cards. It’s bold, happy, and has me thinking of blue skies, sparkling water, and all those fun summer days. For my card, I created a playful floral frame around the outside and filled the centre with a few summer essentials: sunglasses, flip-flops, and a cool drink. 😎🩴🥤

Of course, my kind of summer fun usually involves staying inside with the air conditioning, a cup of tea, and my craft supplies. 😂 But at least my cards can enjoy the sunshine!

Basic Steps

Card Base

Cut your card base and a black mat layer and smaller white layer

Summer Images

Stamp the sunglasses, flip-flops, and drink onto Basic White cardstock. Colour each image with Azure Afternoon, adding different patterns and details to keep everything fun and interesting. For the drink add just a few small lines and then go over with the colour lifter

Floral Frame

Stamp the flowers around the outside edges of the Basic White cardstock panel, letting some of the images go off the edges. Colour the flowers using different shades and layers of Azure Afternoon to create the bright monochromatic border. Stamp colour and cut 3 extra flowers on scrap white paper.

Create the Scene

Pop the 3 flowers in a cluster in the right corner with Stampin’ Dimensionals to add a little extra depth.

Sentiment

Stamp and fussy cut the Fun in the Sun sentiment adhere near the bottom of the card, tucking it into the flowers so it feels like part of the design.

Final Touches

Add a few small embellishments for a little sparkle, then layer the finished panel onto Basic Black cardstock before adhering it to the card base. The black mat really makes that Azure Afternoon pop! Add wink a stella to the inside flowers the sunglasses and a little in the drink water💙

I love how bright and playful this card turned out! The floral frame keeps your eye moving around the card, while all those little summer images get to have their own moment in the centre.

Azure Afternoon certainly understood the assignment for this one. 💙😎 It’s bold, cheerful, and ready for some Fun in the Sun... while I stay comfortably inside crafting in the air conditioning! 😂🐱
