A Stroll Through the Countryside

There's something so peaceful about a quiet country landscape. For this week's Wednesday night class, I created this birthday card featuring the beautiful Far Away Landscapes stamp set. I love how the bold striped background draws your eye straight to the hand-coloured countryside scene, creating a simple design with plenty of impact.

One bittersweet part of this project is that Far Away Landscapes has made its way onto the Last Chance List. If you've been thinking about adding it to your collection, now is the perfect time before it disappears. It's such a versatile set for birthday cards, masculine cards, thinking of you cards, and so much more.

The warm tones paired with the peaceful scenery create a calm, sunny feeling, while the 2026–2028 In Color Butterflies add just the right touch of sparkle without taking away from the focal image.

Basic Steps

Card Base
Create your card base and mat layers. Cut several narrow strips of DSP and arrange them across a Basic White panel, leaving even spacing between each strip to create the modern striped background.

Scenic Image
Stamp the countryside image onto Basic White cardstock. Colour the scene using Watercolor Pencils then die cut into a large stitched circle.

Sentiment
Stamp the birthday greeting onto a strip of Basic White cardstock and trim to size.

Assembly
Adhere the striped background to your card base. Pop up the scenic circle with Stampin' Dimensionals and tuck the sentiment across the lower portion of the circle for added dimension.

Final Touches
Finish the card with a few 2026–2028 In Color Butterflies to add a subtle pop of shine and movement.

Sometimes the simplest layouts become the ones we reach for again and again. The clean striped background lets the peaceful countryside scene shine, proving that you don't need lots of layers to create a beautiful card.
