Shady Style: A Sketch with a Sneak Peek

One of my favourite things about sketch challenges is seeing how one simple layout can spark dozens of unique ideas. This month's Crafty Challenge gave me the perfect opportunity to do just that, while also giving you a little sneak peek at an exciting coming soon Stampin' Up! set!

I immediately fell in love with these fun sunglasses. By adding colourful, reflective lenses to each pair, they become the stars of the card while the bold black die cuts keep everything crisp and modern. The diagonal DSP background adds movement without overwhelming the design, and a simple gold embossed "Thank You" sentiment finishes everything off perfectly.

This card is proof that you don't need lots of layers or embellishments to make a statement. Sometimes a great sketch, a fun focal point, and a pop of shine are all you need!

Basic Steps

1. Create the Background
Cut your card base a mat layer and then a smaller DSP Layer, Then cut another mat layer square and a smaller layer in DSP

2. Die Cut the Sunglasses
Cut several pairs of sunglasses from the NEW up coming summer Happiness set in Basic Black cardstock. Add the colourful reflective lens pieces in DSP.

3. Arrange the Design
Adhere your mats and DSP together then add ribbon around the main mat, then add the square layer add the sunglasses

4. Create the Sentiment
Stamp and heat emboss your sentiment in gold onto Basic Black cardstock. Layer it over a die-cut circle with an additional pair of sunglasses peeking out from behind.

5. Assemble the Card
Attach the focal circle using Dimensionals, add the ribbon bow, then adhere everything to the card base.

Sketch challenges are a wonderful reminder that creativity doesn't have to start with a blank page. A simple layout can lead to endless possibilities, and adding a brand-new stamp set makes it even more exciting!
