Relaxing Waterside Birthday Wishes in Barley Blush

It's time for another round of our Monochromatic Hop, and we're celebrating the brand-new 2026–2028 In Colors! First up is Barley Blush, a soft and calming pink that was perfect for creating a peaceful waterside retreat.

When I saw the chair from the Relaxing Waterside set, I immediately pictured a quiet afternoon by the water with a cup of tea, a good book, and a few feathered visitors stopping by to say hello. Sometimes cardmaking is about telling a little story, and this one feels like the perfect birthday escape.

Background Layer

Start with a Barley Blush card base and add a layer of coordinating floral Designer Series Paper. The soft floral pattern adds plenty of detail while keeping the monochromatic theme front and centre. I added the ribbon around the DSP then adhered it.

Layered Panels

Die cut a large stitched circle from Basic White cardstock and adhere it to the centre of the card front. This creates a clean focal area that helps the detailed stamped images stand out against the patterned background.

Stamp & Colour

Stamp the chair, grasses, bird, cup, book, and birthday banner images. Colour everything using shades of Barley Blush along with a few neutral accents for depth and detail. Fussy cut or die cut the images and arrange them on the circle layer to build your relaxing waterside scene.

Final Touches

Add a ribbon bow to the side of the focal image for texture and dimension. Finish with a bow.

Final Thoughts

Barley Blush is quickly becoming one of my favourite new In Colors. It has a soft, calming feel while still being rich enough to create beautiful monochromatic projects. I love how this card captures a peaceful moment by the water, proving that sometimes the best birthday gift is a comfy chair, a warm drink, a good book, and a little time to relax. Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to hop along and see what everyone else created with this lovely new colour!
