Crafty Challenge Colour Challenge

This month’s Crafty Challenge was all about colour! The palette featured Misty Moonlight, Fresh Freesia, Balmy Blue, Gorgeous Grape, and Timid Tiger. I started with black-and-white Designer Series Paper and used Stampin’ Blends to colour the flowers, creating custom patterned paper that perfectly matched the challenge colours.

Background Layer

Create a standard card base from Basic White cardstock. A mat white layer and Cut a panel of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and adhere it to the centre of the mat.

Colour the DSP

Use black-and-white floral Designer Series Paper and colour the flowers with Stampin’ Blends in Fresh Freesia, Timid Tiger, and Gorgeous Grape. Add Balmy Blue to the water in the vases and a little gray granite on the inside of the vase go over with the colour lifter to create a little glass shine.

Since we dont have gorges grape blend take highland heather blends colour in then go over with Gorgeous Grape water colour pencil then take a little tissue and rub the image to make it smooth itll look almost like blends.

Fussy cut the vases and floral arrangements.

Arrange the Vases

Lay out the coloured vases across the Gorgeous Grape panel, overlapping them slightly to create a full flower display. Once happy with the arrangement, adhere them using a mix of adhesive and dimensionals for added depth.

Ribbon & Sentiment

Wrap a length of Balmy Blue ribbon across the card front tuck under 2 of the vases and tie a small bow. Stamp the birthday sentiment, then adhere it in the lower right corner of the card.

Final Touches

Finish the card with a few rhinestones for sparkle. The bright challenge colours paired with the hand-coloured black-and-white DSP make the flowers pop against the bold Gorgeous Grape background.

Final Thoughts

One of my favourite things about black-and-white DSP is that it lets you create exactly the colours you need for any challenge. Instead of searching through papers to find the perfect match, I simply coloured the flowers myself and ended up with a card that fit the palette perfectly. It’s a great reminder that DSP can be more than just a background. Sometimes it becomes the focal point! 🐱 Happy Crafting! 🐱
