Scene Building with Embossing Folders

This month’s Technique Hop is all about embossing folders and you know I can’t resist a good background that does half the decorating for me. πŸ™Œ

I absolutely love folders that help create a scene, and this brick wall texture was the perfect backdrop for a cozy little reading nook. Add some leafy plants, a comfy chair, and a couple of sleepy orange kitties and suddenly it feels like the kind of spot you’d lose an afternoon in with a good book. πŸ“š

Here’s how I put it together:

Card Base:
Thick Basic White card base, folded in half for a standard A2 card.

Background Layer:
Basic White panel embossed with a brick wall embossing folder to create that cozy indoor texture. Adhere to the card base.

Layered Panels:
Add a bold red panel to act as the cabinet/bookshelf area. This grounds the scene and gives it that warm, lived-in feel.

Stamp & Colour:
Stamp the chair, plants, shelves, books, and sweet kitties. Colour using your favourite medium. Fussy cut or die cut and arrange to build your reading nook scene.

Final Touches:
Add the sentiment near the top. Pop up a few elements with dimensionals for depth and let that brick texture shine.

Embossing folders are such an easy way to add instant character. One run through the machine and boom… instant cozy atmosphere. πŸ’›
