Monochromatic Hop | Lemon Lolly Sunshine

This week’s Monochromatic Hop is all about one colour doing all the talking, the bright and happy Lemon Lolly. If sunshine could turn itself into cardstock, it would probably look exactly like this colour.

For my card I used the Pretty Florals set to create a layered floral wreath surrounding the sentiment. Working with a monochromatic palette is one of my favourite ways to add depth without adding extra colours. By using different tones of Lemon Lolly and the 2 stepped flowers stamps it build dimension while still keeping that clean cohesive look.

To add a bit of elegance, I included touches of gold in the background and foliage. The gold gives the card just enough sparkle and contrast so the yellow doesn’t feel flat, while still letting Lemon Lolly stay the star of the show.

This card ended up feeling bright, cheerful, and perfect for sending a little sunshine through the mail.

Basic Steps:

  1. Card Base
Cut cardstock to 4 ¼ x 11. Score at 5 ½ and fold in half to create your card base.

  2. Background Layer
Take a white card stock and cut to card front 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 then line it up to score 1/4 boarder do for all sides the repeat at 1/2 creating our own embossed "DSP"

  3. Layered Panels
Take Lemon Lolly DSP cut a rectangular panel  Adhere this panel to the card front

  4. Embossed sentiment
Stamp the sentiment in the centre circle using versa mark and heat n emboss with gold. Adhere this to the card front.

  5. Stamp
Stamp multiple flowers from the Pretty Florals set using Lemon Lolly tones. Die cut them out along with greenery in both lemon lolly white and gold. Arrange them around the circle to form a wreath, layering with dimensionals for depth.

  6. Final Touches
Finish off with gold elements & embellishments to finish the design

  7. Final Touches .
