Monochromatic Hop – Balmy Blue Blooms

It’s Monochromatic Hop day and I was so excited because this week features my absolute favourite… Balmy Blue. There’s just something about this colour. It feels like a crisp coastal morning with a smidge of fog here on Vancouver Island, a peaceful sky before the crafty chaos begins, and the perfect excuse to layer on all the dreamy blue goodness.

For this card, I wanted something elegant but still fresh and happy. Florals felt like the perfect choice. Clean white against Balmy Blue keeps it light, while the coloured circle adds that pop of detail to draw your eye right in. And your in luck this stamp is a sneak peek of a new stamp coming in March online exclusives.

Basic Steps

  1. Create the Card Base
Start with a Basic White card base and a white mat layer.

  2. Stamp the Background
Stamp your floral background stamp on white and then heat emboss on balmy blue using white also heat emboss your sentiment while your stuff out.

  3. Add the Circle Focal Point
Die cut a circle from your embossed balmy blue layer.
Next Layer this on top of your stamped white and lightly trace the circle outline then die cut circle on the traced line.

  4. Add Colour to the Focal Point
Colour the white circle using Balmy Blue. Add a little extra depth with darker shading in the flower centres and petal folds, I used Azure afternoon then went over it again in Balmy blue
  5. Add Ribbon
Addhere the embossed balmy blue to your white mat layer then Wrap Balmy Blue ribbon across the background layer and tie a bow on the left side.

  6. Attach the Focal Panel
Pop up the coloured circle with dimensionals for extra depth.

  7. Sentiment Time
Adhere your sentiment “happy birthday” greeting to a white mate and layer it across the bottom of the card.

  8. Finishing Touches
Add a few gems to the flower centres for a little sparkle and extra polish.

That’s it. Simple layers, one beautiful colour, and lots of soft floral texture. Balmy Blue really knows how to behave like a calm sky and still steal the show
