🎲 Dice Roll Challenge – Black & White Panda Card

Sometimes crafting feels like planning. Other times… we let the dice boss us around. This month was definitely the second option, and I have to say, the dice had excellent taste.

At first I thought, “Ohhh this might be tricky…” but it turned into one of those cards that looks fun without a million colours fighting for attention. Black and white is basically the tuxedo of cardmaking. Always classy. Never overdressed. And that sweet panda? Total scene stealer.

How This Card Came Together

🖤 Step 1: Card Base
I started with a Basic Black card base in a vertical layout. This keeps everything bold and frames the design beautifully. I then added a black mat with a tight boarder then another black mat with a little more room.

🤍 Step 2: Layer the Background &🎭 Masking Magic
Next came the fun part. I created a black and white grunge background to build lots of interest.
Start with a piece of Basic White cardstock slightly smaller than your black mat layers. Die cut a circle from the panel and save the circle for another project. Use the leftover negative piece as a mask.
With blending brushes and Memento Black Ink, softly blend inside the circle openings to create bold black circles on your background.
Then stamp a mix of patterns like splatters, stripes, and geometric shapes from the Joyful Squares set. Layering these images adds movement and texture without needing any colour.
To finish the background, use a black Stampin’ Blends marker to add small dots and extra speckles around the panel.
There is no wrong stamping when it comes to grunge. The more random, the better!

🔲 Step 3: Create the Focal Panel
I cut a white diamond panel and layered it onto a slightly larger black mat. Turning squares on point instantly makes the layout feel more dynamic.

🐼 Step 5: Stamp & Shade
The panda was stamped in black ink and lightly shaded with our black water colour pencils to add dimension while staying true to the black and white theme.

💬 Step 6: Add the Sentiment
The “For You” sentiment was placed across the center of the panel to tie everything together and add a nice bold focal line. I didnt have a for you stamp so I used your a big deal which is still something I can give "for you"

✨ Step 7: Finishing Touches
A few pearls were added for soft shine and a little texture. Just enough to say “I am elegant” without shouting it. Once again though I didnt have the traditional white pearls but I did have 2025–2027 In Color Flat Pearls and since pearls were in the name its ok lol.

Final Thoughts

This challenge was such a good reminder that you do not always need bright colours to make a card pop. Strong contrast, fun layers, and a cute focal image can do all the heavy lifting. Also, rolling dice in your craft room comes with zero risk of losing your craft stash… so I highly recommend it 😄🎲
