Monochromatic Hop – Featuring Basic Gray!

It’s time for another round of our Monochromatic Hop, and this week’s spotlight colour is the ever-stylish Basic Gray!

I decided to play with the Petal Arrangements stamp set for this one — because flowers and gray? Total elegance! I went for a soft, chalkboard-style look with a pop of white pencil to make those blooms come to life. Add in that bold “oh hey friend” sentiment, and you’ve got yourself a card that’s anything but basic! 😉

Let’s be honest — Basic Gray is like the little black dress of cardstock: simple, timeless, and always classy.

Basic Steps

  1. Create Card Base Make card bas at 8 1/2x 5 1/2 score at 4 1/4 and cut a white mat smaller 

  2. Stamp it up: Stamp your floral images from Petal Arrangements in Memento onto Basic Gray cardstock.

  3. Add highlights: Use white water pencil and light gray pencil to softly colour in your flowers for that chalkboard vibe.

  4. Pop on the sentiment: layer your sentiment — bold and bright against the gray background.

  5. A touch of sparkle: Add a few gems or pearls for a subtle shimmer (because sparkle is always a good idea).

  6. Layer it up: Mount onto a white card base layer, for that perfect framed finish.
