🍩 Technique Tuesday: Masking Magic with a Side of Doughnuts 🍩

Who doesn’t want a plate full of doughnuts, right? 😋 This week’s Technique Tuesday challenge is all about masking — and I figured, why not make it sweet? Literally.

I broke out my stamps, some bright inks, and a whole lot of donut-loving energy to create this colorful, sugary background. No sticky fingers required (though I was tempted to grab a real donut mid-stamping… for inspiration, of course 😆).

🪄 The Masking Technique (aka how to make stamp magic happen)

Stamp your image — On masking paper, stamp your image twice, then fussy cut right along the line (no border). Peel off the backing — and here’s a pro tip: stick it to your clothing first to make it a little less sticky so it doesn’t tear your paper later.
Stamp your first image — On 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" cardstock, stamp your front-and-center donut (the VIP donut 🍩).
Cover it with a mask — Place your fussy-cut masking image right over that freshly stamped donut.
Stamp the next images — Stamp the next donuts so they overlap part of the masked one — that’s how you get that fun, stacked-behind look!
Repeat Keep going until you’ve got a full platter of deliciousness. The second masked image is great for covering up two donuts at once. 🍩
Color it up! Use bright, happy colors — and lots of them — because, let’s be honest, donuts deserve to be loud, proud, and sprinkled with joy!
Decorate — Stamp, color, and cut out two more donuts and one coffee cup. (Because donuts and coffee = BFFs.)
Layers —Trim your donut background down to 5" x 3-3/4". Slice it in half, then cut five 1" sections. Adhere them to Soft Sea Foam cardstock.
Next, add a square of vellum (which Stampin’ Up! will be offering again in November — woot woot!). Adhere your coffee cup and donuts on top of the vellum.
Add a sentiment — Finish it off with your “Heck Yeah” sentiment — because, heck yeah, you made donut magic! Add a few embellishments to make it sparkle and shine Top off with Wink A stella because even donuts love a little sparkle
