Monochromatic Pecan Pie | Frosted Pinecones
This week’s Monochromatic Instagram Hop colour is Pecan Pie, and this one gave me the perfect excuse to pile on all the warm, natural textures!
I used Frosted Pinecones along with Elegant Leaves and Nature Walk 12" x 12" DSP. The combination of pinecones, leaves and script details worked beautifully with Pecan Pie and gave the card a cozy, woodsy feel.
Steps
-
Card Base
Start with a Pecan Pie card base to keep the monochromatic theme going from edge to edge. -
Background
Create the large background panel with the pinecone imagery, colour then use water colour pencil and colour in the background then add extra texture with the Textured Tree Ring 3D Embossing Folder. -
Layer the Tags
Die cut circle from Nature Walk DSP behind the main focal images. Stamp youer leaves Adhere these to your card -
Final Touches
Add natural twine for another bit of texture. Layer the sentiment across the centre and finish the card with Natural Matte Dots.

Final Thoughts
I really like how much interest you can get from one main colour just by changing up the textures and colouring. Pecan Pie works perfectly with the pinecones and natural elements, and all those overlapping layers give the card plenty to explore without wandering away from the monochromatic challenge. 🤎
And yes, the pinecones are pointing down. I’m sticking with Team Pinecones-Hang-Down. 😂🌲
