Moths Kaleidoscope

For last month's team meeting, I wanted to celebrate our Colour of the Month with something bright, playful, and full of life. The Fern & Flora collection provided the perfect moths to showcase a rainbow of colour while still keeping the design cohesive.

This card is all about creating movement through repetition. By scattering moths across the card front and then building a layered focal point in the centre, the eye naturally travels around the design before settling on the sentiment.

The moths are definitely the stars of the show here. Each one is coloured differently, creating a vibrant kaleidoscope effect that makes the card feel energetic and cheerful. Rather than grouping them together, I spread them across the entire card front to create the feeling of butterflies fluttering through a garden.

To keep all that colour from becoming overwhelming, I added a central layered cluster featuring foliage, florals, a stitched circle, and a sentiment panel. This creates a visual anchor that grounds the design while still allowing the butterflies to shine.

The layering adds depth without adding too much bulk. The foliage peeks out from behind the circle, the sentiment sits proudly on top, and a simple twine bow introduces a soft natural texture. Together, these layers help create dimension and interest while maintaining a clean overall look.

One of my favourite things about card making is finding ways to use lots of colour while still creating balance. This card accomplishes that by combining a busy moth background with a strong layered focal point that keeps everything working together.

It's bright, happy, and impossible not to smile at. Much like opening the craft room door and discovering two orange cats supervising your supplies... and possibly claiming ownership of them. 🐱🦋🌈
