Monochromatic Magic in Cherry Cobbler 🐌

Welcome to another Monochromatic Hop! This month's featured colour is Cherry Cobbler, and I have a little confession... red has never really been one of my favourite colours. 😄 I usually reach for blues first, but these monthly hops are all about stepping outside my comfort zone.

For this card, I found inspiration in one of nature's tiny treasures: the endangered Polymita tree snail from eastern Cuba. Often called one of the world's most beautiful snails, its shell is covered in incredible swirls of vibrant colours and intricate patterns. Researchers are working to protect these remarkable creatures as their forest habitats disappear, making them as fascinating as they are beautiful. While my little snail isn't an exact replica, its rich Cherry Cobbler shell was inspired by these amazing snails and became the perfect focal point for this monochromatic design.

Basic Steps

1. Create the Background
Emboss a Basic White card base with a textured embossing folder to add subtle dimension without taking attention away from the focal panel.

2. Stamp the Scene
Stamp the leafy images repeatedly onto a Basic White panel using Cherry Cobbler ink, creating a layered background by stamping some images at full strength and others stamped off for lighter shades.

3. Colour the Snail
Stamp and colour the snail, using Cherry Cobbler for the shell while adding neutral tones to the body. Cut it out and adhere it to the bottom of the stamped panel.

4. Add the Layers
Mat the stamped panel with Cherry Cobbler cardstock before adhering it to the embossed card front.

5. Finish the Card
Stamp the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler, add it near the top of the focal panel with dimensionals, then finish with a few sparkly embellishments for a touch of shine.

Final Thoughts

Sometimes the colours we use the least surprise us the most. While Cherry Cobbler may not be my first pick off the shelf, creating this card reminded me that inspiration can come from the most unexpected places, especially nature. The endangered snail that inspired this project gave me a whole new appreciation for this rich, bold colour, and I think it made this little critter impossible not to smile at.

Thanks so much for hopping along with us today! I hope this card inspires you to pull out a colour that's been quietly waiting in your collection and see what you can create with it.
