blending brush wenesday

This month's Wednesday Night Craft Along card is proof that blending brushes can be the star of the show! I started by creating a bright colour-blocked background with blending brushes, then layered the stunning Nature's Symphony dies over top in Basic Black. The bold silhouette effect really lets the colourful background shine while keeping the design clean and elegant.

1. Card Base

Create a Basic White card base and add a Basic Black mat layer.

2. Blended Background

On a Basic White panel, Tape of most of the card leaving the desired colour spot open, use blending brushes to add bright colour in sections. I used pink at the top, blue through the middle, and lime green at the bottom. Blend where the colours meet for a soft transition.

3. Die Cut Details

Die cut the foliage and log pieces from Basic Black cardstock using the Nature's Symphony Dies.

4. Build the Scene

Arrange and adhere the log and foliage pieces over the blended panel. The dark die cuts create a striking silhouette against the colourful background.

5. Sentiment

Stamp a birthday sentiment and trim it into a small banner. Add it to the card front using dimensionals for extra depth.

6. Final Touches

Add a few iridescent embellishments for sparkle and adhere the finished panel to the card base.

One of my favourite things about blending brushes is how quickly they can create a custom background. No two panels ever turn out exactly the same, which makes every card unique. Pairing a colourful blended background with bold black die cuts is one of those combinations that always works, creating a card that's both eye-catching and surprisingly easy to make. Perfect for when you want a big impact without a lot of fuss! 🐾💖
