Eclipse Technique + Scenic DSP = Instant WOW!

I couldn’t resist jumping into the Eclipse Challenge… and now I’m wondering why I don’t do this more often! This technique is such a fun way to stretch your Designer Series Paper and completely change the look of a scene.

I used a beautiful scenic DSP and let the pattern do all the heavy lifting. Then came the slicing… and the magic happened ✂️✨

Basic Steps:

Card Base
Cut cardstock to 4 ¼ x 11. Score at 5 ½ and fold in half to create your card base. Add a white mate and then another blue layer
Background Layer
Cut your scenic DSP to smaller layer then the blue mat in step 1.
Layered Panels
Cut your DSP panel into even vertical strips (I did ¼"but I think others are using–½"). Layer them out on your mat layer then adhere the 1st strip to the mat then the 2nd one lined up next to the 1st one but you will use dimensionals pop it up then repeat with one to mat one popped up till there all laid down creating the “eclipse” effect.
Stamp & Colour
Stamp your sentiment onto Basic White cardstock, trim or die cut, and adhere to the front.
Final Touches
Add die cut foliage for a soft layered look and dimension. Pop up your sentiment with dimensionals and adjust placement so it doesn’t hide too much of that gorgeous scene.

This technique is one of those “trust the process” moments… it looks a little wild mid-way, but once it comes together? Magic ✨
Perfect for showing off those scenic papers we sometimes hoard (no judgment… I see you 👀).
