🌍 Global Design Project Challenge Card

This week’s colours from Global Design Project are basically a tropical smoothie for paper lovers: Strawberry Slush, Petal Pink, and Pretty Peacock. Sweet, soft, and bold all at once. Naturally, I took that combo straight to the beach.

I cracked open a brand new landscape stamp set and paired it with fresh dies to build a layered peek-a-boo look out scene. It feels like you are peeking through tropical leaves and discovering a sunset shoreline waiting with a lounge chair that clearly has your name on it.

That bright Strawberry Slush sky fading into Petal Pink sand gives warm sunset vibes, while Pretty Peacock brings in those rich ocean tones and leafy silhouettes. It is bold without shouting, which is my favourite kind of drama.

Design tip: When working with strong and soft colours together, let one be the star and the others be the supporting cast. Here the sky steals the spotlight and the foliage frames the stage.

How I Made This Card

1️⃣ Create the Card Base
Start with a white card base.

2️⃣ Stamp and Blend Your Background

Stamp your landscape scene onto white cardstock using black ink.

  • colour using blends Strawberry Slush across the top for the bold sunset sky

  • sand and embankment in Petal Pink

  • Blend Pretty Peacock into the water area and trees

extend your colouring out to create a full page scene then go around the edges with colour lifter and a few light strikes in the sky

3️⃣ Add Depth with Simple Details

Use a darker ink or marker to deepen shadow areas in the water and along the shoreline. A few extra lines go a long way in making the scene feel alive. Then add some white waves with a white gel pen.

4️⃣ Die Cut the Peek-a-Boo Frame

Using your new the Forever Florals dies, cut a detailed leafy frame from white cardstock. This becomes your “window” layer.

Think of it as nature’s curtains dramatically pulled open to reveal your sunset masterpiece.

5️⃣ Layer It Up

Adhere the die frame to the stamped scene then adhere this to your card base.

6️⃣ Add Extra Foliage

Die cut a few solid leaves from Pretty Peacock cardstock and tuck them into the frame edges for extra dimension and balance.

7️⃣ Sentiment Time

Stamp your greeting on a small white strip and adhere across the lower part of the card. Keep it simple so the scene stays the star.

8️⃣ Finishing Touches

Add a few embellishments in coordinating tones. A tiny pop of shine near the sentiment ties everything together without stealing focus.

This colour combo was such a fun surprise, and the new landscape set is going to get a lot of love from me. It is basically a mini vacation… but flatter and easier to mail.
