Colour INKspiration #203 – Balmy Blue Beauty πŸ’™

This week’s Colour INKspiration combo had my heart right away… Balmy Blue, Azure Afternoon and Smoky Slate are such a classy trio! I paired them with a brand new floral stamp set and created this soft but bold birthday card with lots of layering and a little dimension.

I love when a colour challenge pushes me to mix light and dark tones of the same family. The blues really shine against the Smoky Slate leaves and details.

Basic Steps

  1. Create the Card Base
Start with a Smoky Slate card base.

  2. Stamp the Background
Stamp the floral images across the Basic White panel using Memento Black ink. Adhere to smoky slate card base

  3. Colour the Flowers
Colour the flowers using Balmy Blue and Azure Afternoon. Use Smoky Slate for the leaves and details. Blend lighter and darker tones for depth.

  4. Add the Focal Circles
Stamp and Heat emboss the flowers on Balmy blue Die cut a large circle (or use the left over one from another project coming soon)  Cut a smaller white circle

  5. Layer & Add Dimension
Adhere both circles to the card front using dimensionals for added height and interest. Leaving room for the smoky slate to pop out.
  6. Stamp the Sentiment
Stamp your birthday greeting in Azure Afternoon onto a strip of Basic White. adhere across the circles.
  7. Finishing Touches
Tie a simple bow with white twine and add a few gems for sparkle.

That’s it! A soft blue floral card with just enough contrast to make those colours shine. Thanks so much for hopping along with Colour INKspiration #203 πŸ’™
