Today’s creative spark comes straight from our Coast2Coast team inspiration challenge, and let me tell you… these two chubby red cardinals marched right into my craft room and demanded to be the stars. I’m not usually a red-lover, but when it comes to festive birds with attitude, I’ll make an exception. To keep things balanced, I nestled them onto a cool blue grunge-style background, and the whole thing came together like a snowy woodland storybook.

Here’s how you can recreate this cozy cardinal moment!

✂️ Basic Steps

1️⃣ Prep Your Card Base

Start with a white cardstock base.

2️⃣ Stamp & Colour the Cardinals

On a rectangle white cardstock Stamp the pair of cardinals and colour them in. Add a bit of shading to keep them looking plump, warm, and adorable. And add some eyes with white Gel pen. Use Cloud cover around the birds then colour over with the brush end of the colour lifter once let dry then repeat you can do this a few times just make sure it dries before the next layer. Once done tear the edges

3️⃣Create Your Grunge Background

Next cut a mat layer of white cardstock and run threw the die cut with embossing folder, then tear the edges and slice with the edge of scissors for that soft, weathered winter look. Next blend blue ink across your front with blending brushes. (I didnt add any ink I used my blue blending brush as it had blue on it test it on scrap paper 1st)

4️⃣ Add Your Layers

Cut a small rectangle of Early espresso & Cloud cover cardstock tear and crinkle them, run your scissors over the early espresso like you would curling a ribbon. Next layer them to left then adhere the birds on dimensionals.

5️⃣ Add the Greeting

Stamp your sentiment (“Merry Christmas and happy wishes”) and adhere it slightly offset for a relaxed, handmade charm.

6️⃣ Tie It All Together

Wrap twine around and adhere behind sentment for a rustic touch. Let it loop and wander—messy cute is the vibe.

7️⃣ Finishing Touches

Splatter some Cloud cover and wink a stella then Add a few sequins for sparkle, because winter requires a little shimmer. ❄️✨
