Dough-Lightfully Spooky: Turning Autumn Doughnuts into Halloween Treats!

Happy crafting, everyone! Today, I'm thrilled to share a card I made for the Stampin' Dreams Challenge, which had a super fun theme: Trick or Treat! 🍬👻
Now, here's a little secret: I don't currently own any dedicated Halloween stamp sets. Gasp! But you know what? That's never stopped a creative crafter, right? Instead of being limited, I saw it as a fantastic opportunity to get a little inventive with what I do have.
And that's how my "More Than Autumn" doughnuts got a ghoulishly good makeover!

Basic Instructions for Your Spooky Doughnuts Card:

  1. Prepare Your Card Base: Start with a standard card base (e.g., 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" for a top-folding A2 card) in Basic Black.

  2. Cut Your DSP Panels: Choose 3-4 different patterns of Designer Series Paper that complement a Halloween theme. Cut them into various sizes to create a dynamic background on your card front. I chose some scraped pieces that were 1inch wide. Adhere these to your card front.

  3. Stamp Your Doughnuts: Using the More Than Autumn stamp set, stamp multiple doughnut images onto Basic White cardstock and colour the doughnut dough part light crumb cake.

  4. Time to Get Spooky - Coloring! This is the fun part!

    • Spiderweb Doughnut: Use Highland Heather Stampin' Blends to color your doughnut. Add a fun spiderweb pattern with a black fine-tip pen and drawer a spider on a DSP scraps.

    • Mummy Doughnut: Use a black fine-tip pen Draw thin black lines across it to resemble mummy wrappings. Colour in medium light blends. Add 2 eyes (I just used some small circles that were in the scrap basket) Cutting the circle eye in half and adhered right up the mummy lines makes it look like its peeking out.

    • Eyeball Doughnut: draw "veins" with  Poppy Parade Stampin' Blend follow the "sprinkles lines for the vines). Adhere a googly eye in the center.

    • Monster Face Doughnut: Use Granny Apple Green for the bottom then light black for the top to recrate a Frankenstein look. Take fine black tip pen again and draw 2 nuts/bolts on the side, some lines on the hair line a mouth and add lines to the sprinkles to create broken monster effect. Top with eyes I did the same as the mummy circles in yellow black dot in the center and I did add a touch of green.

    • Jack-O'-Lantern Doughnut: Color your doughnut in Pumpkin Pie & Peach. Use a black pen to draw the classic Jack-O'-Lantern face. Add a little scrap of brown cardstock to the top of the pumpkin.

  5. Assemble Your Doughnut Row: Fussy cut all the doughnuts out Arrange your monster doughnuts across the center of your card, varying their heights slightly for visual interest. Adhere them with liquid glue and Stampin' Dimensionals for a bit of pop.

  6. Add Your Sentiment: Adhere this strip below your doughnuts.

  7. Final Touches: Add any optional embellishments like sequins or gems to complete your card.

And there you have it! Proof that you don't always need specialized supplies to create something perfectly themed and utterly fun. This project truly inspired me to think outside the box, and I hope it inspires you too!
