Sunshine Vibes Sketch Challenge
Today’s card is for my Coast to Coast Team Sketch Challenge, and I just knew I had to reach for the Sunshine Vibes set. The cheerful colors, bold rainbow, and playful design are perfect for spreading a little happiness.
I love how sketches give a jumping-off point—you can take the same layout and end up with so many different styles of cards. For mine, I leaned into the bright and happy rainbow look, and of course added a fun birthday sentiment to finish it off.
Basic Steps to Create This Card
1. Card Base
-
Start with a standard card base (8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”).
Then add a black matt 5 3/8 x 4 1/8
2. Patterned Background
-
Cut a piece of Sunshine Vibes DSP to 5 ¼” x 4” and adhere to the card front. The bold stripes give instant happy vibes!
3. Rainbow Panel
-
Die cut the layered rainbow piece out of white and back it with the same DSP trying to line up the patterns
-
Mount onto a slightly larger black cardstock layer to make it pop.
cut a strip of black card stock adhere to the Card front
Adhere rainbow layer on top
4. Sentiment
-
Take your sentiment and Layer it onto a small strip of black cardstock and adhere to the rainbow panel with dimensionals.
5. Embellishments
-
Add a few coordinating enamel dots and add some wink of stella for a finishing touch.
This card works beautifully as a birthday card, but you could easily change the sentiment for a “thinking of you” or “just because” card. That’s the beauty of a sketch—you can take the same design and make it your own every time!
