Autumn-Inspired Birthday Card

Today I’m joining in a photo inspiration challenge featuring a beautiful autumn purple flower. I couldn’t resist pairing it with the Floral Impressions DSP—it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite go-to papers. While it’s bright and cheerful enough for summer, it also works perfectly for fall when paired with deeper tones and seasonal flowers.

This card combines bold florals, natural textures, and a pop of color to create a happy birthday card that feels both fresh and autumn-ready.

Steps to Create:

  1. Card Base

    • Cut your card base in Basic White: 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score at 4 ¼” and fold.

    • Add a crushed curry cardstock layer measuring 4 ” x 5 1/4”.

  2. DSP Layers

    • Cut a piece of Floral Impressions DSP to 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”.

    • with pencil mark the center of the DSP

    • Line up the top right corner and center in the ditch of your trimer slice then repeat from the bottom right corner

    • Flip the cut out over and adhere the DSP to the crushed curry layer

    • *Note if the cut isnt 100% in the middle its ok as your image will cover it.

  3. Focal Flower

    • Stamp and cut your flower and greenery.

    • Layer the elements together and tie with linen thread for a natural touch.

    • Add your flower cluster to the center using dimensionals.

  4. Sentiment

    • Adhere your sentiment directly onto the DSP or on a die-cut piece.

  5. Finishing Touches

    • Embellish with a embellishments for a little sparkle.

 Final Thoughts

I love how the purple flower pops against the sunny yellows and green background! This challenge really showed how versatile the Floral Impressions DSP can be—bright enough for summer but warm enough for autumn projects.
