Chasing Sunsets with Blending Brushes πŸš—πŸŒ…

It’s Technique Tuesday, and you already know I’m reaching for one of my all-time favourite tools… blending brushes! There’s just something magical about watching colour melt into colour. Add a circle mask and suddenly… boom… instant sky drama!

For today’s card, I wanted that bold sunset glow to spotlight my race car. Because honestly, if you’re going fast, you might as well look fabulous doing it πŸ˜„

Basic Steps:

  1. Card Base
Cut cardstock to 4 ¼ x 11. Score at 5 ½ and fold in half to create your card base.
  2. Background Layer
Create a circle mask using scrap cardstock and a die. Place it onto your white panel and use blending brushes to build your sunset sky (I blended pinks, oranges, and yellows for that glowing effect). Remove the mask to reveal your crisp circle sky. Tip use repositionable tape to hold down your papers while blending
  3. Layered Panels
Mat your blended panel with black cardstock and adhere to the card base. Add a horizontal black strip across the lower portion to ground your design.
  4. Stamp & Colour
Stamp your race car image and colour. Fussy cut and pop it up with dimensionals so it looks like it’s racing right into that sunset.
  5. Final Touches
Stamp your sentiment in the top corner and add a few enamel dots for extra movement and interest.

This is one of those techniques that looks fancy but is secretly super easy… my kind of crafting! And bonus, once you make one mask, you’ll want to make skies for EVERYTHING 🌈Thanks for stopping by and crafting along with me!
